Presentation:
Note: Please observe the complete work cycle from taking the child’s consent to winding up material after working with it.
1. Invite a child to work with you.
2. Bring over the material to the workplace with the help of the child.
3. Introduce the child to the multiplication board.
4. Show the child the numbers along the top of the board and let him know that “These numbers tell us how many times to take a number.”
5. Demonstrate how to slide a card into the slot on the side of the board. E.g. 3
6. Inform the child that placing this number in the slot means that we will be doing the table of 3
7. Now place a little red disc above the a number at the top of the board e.g. 1
8. Tell the child that this means we need to take 3 one time.
9. Place three red beads in the column below one.
10. Ask the child to count how many beads there are on the board.
11. Now tell the child, that “3 x 1 is 3” or one time 3 equals 3. If the child can write, ask him to write the answer on the paper next to the equation.
12. Now move the disc over and place it above the 2 on the board.
13. Inform the child that, “We now need 3 two times. But we already have 3 one times.”
14. Ask the child to place the red beads in a vertical line below the number 2 on the board.
15. Ask the child to count the total number of beads on the board.
16. Tell the child that, two times three equals 6. Or say, “3 x 2 is 6”.
